December 2004

Sounds of the World is an annual event at which some of the 700 friends from 80 countries volunteering at the Baha'i World Centre perform cultural songs and dances. The opening act was an African American step dance I coordinated. 15 friends representing the US, Kenya, South Africa, Romania, Krygystan, Tonga, Nigeria, Zambia, India, Bolivia, and New Zealand worked extremely hard to perfect this demanding performance. Other highlights of the event were a classical Indian dance, a tango, a Pacific dance, and an African medley complete with gumbooting, one of the origins of stepping!
