Fringe Festival

Eating at a yummy Turkish restaurant in Edinburgh before the show.
Tom, Liam and Erin conspiring to liven up an otherwise destined-to-be-mundane photo.
An Inder Manocha poster, center, among a throng of others.
A relatively rare shot of me from this trip. So enjoy it.

After a sleepless night on the red-eye bus from London to Glasgow, I managed to catch an hour or two of sleep before having to get ready to meet Liam and Tom at the train station. In Edinburgh, we met up with Liam's mum and sis, ate a bit of Turkish food, drank a bit of Turkish tea, and headed to the venue to see Inder Manocha, hilarious comedian of Baha'i belief. Right as we went to buy our tickets, Inder spotted Wendy (Liam's mum) and pulled us out of line. So we got comp tickets instead. Sweet. The theatre itself was small and very very hot. So to avoid sweating, I took to sitting very still, while others fanned themselves with programs, and Inder's shirt went from pale to dark purple. Couldn't have been helped. He was working hard making us laugh with a show commenting on his racial identity as an Indian backgrounded Brit and multiculturalism in general. His skill at mixing physical and intellectual humor with audience interaction was amazing. Afterwards we had dinner with him and I got the chance to talk to him about what it takes to develop a show (a year's worth of writing and lots of practice).
