Black Voices

Through recent interactions with certain devestatingly vocally talented friends (you know who you are), I've come to realize (once again) how much I miss my university gospel choir, appropriately named "Black Voices" in the tumultuous 70s. The first time I went to a concert, I literally couldn't keep from crying because of the energy and emotion that was put into praising God by 150+. What was it like to sing with this group? Like being in the middle of a crushing but unified crowd, all swaying, clapping, crying, smiling, laughing and, of course, SINGING on the TOP of their lungs. I can't bear to listen to CDs from this group unless the volume is completely cranked. Otherwise, it's just not realistic, nor does it do justice. I was blessed to be a member of the alto section; historian and executive board member; and step team director (Check me out in my very first step performance. Old school, MmHmmMmm!)
